The 48 articles summarized in this compendium were identified using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases incorporating the search terms “Systane”, “Systane dry eye”, and “hydroxypropyl guar dry eye.” Articles were included when they were published between January 1, 2004 and January 2, 2021, and contained research involving the use of a SYSTANE® product for the temporary relief of burning and irritation due to dryness of the eye. Only manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals and available in English were included in this compendium.
